We are of the firm belief that through the power of technology, the district can be transformed and fit into the global world.CIC Nkawie was setup to function as a nodal point for Information and Communication within the Atwima Nwabiagya District. We seek to advance digital information exchange, citizen-centric services, entertainment and e-learning. We fulfill our objectives by promoting advancement of IT infrastructure and literacy at the district level. The center meet the following objectives in the shortest possible time: Build an ICT literate community within the Atwima Nwabiagya District, Provide fast internet access for data exchange and web browsing, Provide e-learning platforms for the local populace, Create IT awareness within the communities in the district, Provide computer training programs, Provide edu-tainment for children within the district and finally ensure a strong foundation for e-governance programs.

The Team

Our success has been as a result of professional and dedicated team tasked with ensuring that each day, we get closer to accomplishing our mission. With a strong passion to blaze the trail and make a difference. We are relentless in our efforts to overcome all challenges and establish a computer literate society within the Atwima Nwabiagya District. Led by a committed and visionary manager, we are on course to ensure we meet and exceed our set target. As a team, we work assiduously to promote ICT and deliver the best service.

Services

Extensive innovations are continuously being put in place to ensure that the services offered by the CIC reaches the masses. CIC Nkawie conducts computer training programs for staff of the Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly and other government agencies. Other institutions and individuals also benefit from our wide array of services that includes basic computer installation to networking solutions. Everyday tasks such as scanning, printing, fax, e-mail services and other administrative services are also offered. We also take charge of computer facilities of institutions and organisations within the district.

IT Education/ Training

One of the key objectives of establishing the CIC was to create ICT awareness and spread computer literacy within the Atwima Nwabiagya District. We have taken it upon ourselves to achieve this goal with the urgency it deserves. Training programs on fundamentals of computer and softwares are held regularly. Users of our facility require basic knowledge in computers.Courses in Microsoft Office and other software applications are also offered. Advanced and online courses are prescribed for certain individuals. Majority of our students are government employees, students, business men and other individuals.

CIC Computer Club

As part of our efforts to create a computer literate society in the District, we have set up a computer club among the children and youth of the district. The club, founded by the current CIC Manager, Mr. Nicholas Boampong, began with three members. We now have about thirty-five members. Clubs members undergo basic computer training before advancing to other computer applications. The club seeks to promote ICT interest among children. Officially the club is made of two groups,E-TEENS and CLICK-KIDS COMPUTER CLUBS. Further information can be accessed at the e-teens blog.

ICT Practicals Program

The centre encourages schools within the community to hold practical sessions of their normal school ICT period here. This measure goes a long way to support schools who have no computers to aid the teaching of ICT. We believe that this avenue offers the chance for most of the students to see a computer for the first time or having first time access to it. Tutors of ICT come along with their students according to a specially-designed schedule. It is evident that student interest in the subject soars tremenduosly when they are sitting in front of the computer rather than studying it in the classroom. Various challenges such as securing transportation for schools situated far away from the centre, need to be addressed in the near future.

Online Library Access

Here at CIC Nkawie, we encourage students to engage in online research. This affords them the oppourtunity to discover for themselves information that is relevant to their various subjects of study and also offer a broader perspective to education. The wide array of reading material found on the internet is of great benefit to students who have limited reading materials in the school libraries. The encouraging aspect of the online research is that, information gathered is sent to their tutors through the e-mail.Recently,some students have registered for free online courses in their respective disciplines.

Until they send you an e-mail.......

Our task is not complete until these class one pupils of Nkawie Panin D/A Junior High School send you an e-mail. We are embarking on an intensive ICT awareness drive. The purpose is to demystify the xenophobic aura that surrounds computers. We also intend to drive home the fact that the world has been taken over by technology and its is critical that each individual joins in the technological revolution.

Support the Dream

We are determined to achieve our aim of ensuring that we become the hub if ICT within the Atwima Nwabiagya District. However, due to the high cost of technology and its tools, CIC Nkawie welcomes all forms of support which will help us in our agenda.
We will gladly welcome assistance in the form of cash donations,ICT Books, computer equipment and accessories and other donations.
Our challenge of transporting students from distant communities to the centre will be lessened if the centre has a means of transport. Please contact us through e-mail:cic_nkawie@yahoo.com for details on how your donation will be received.
